Boulders
Boulders is a black diamond trail with very challenging climbs and natural technical features. A good introduction to Boulders is the “Over the Top” trail, which starts on Gibson Street. If you like Over the Top, try Billy Goat. If that suits your style, add on Bootleg.
Note that this trail system is currently under maintenance, with extensive brushing and drain installation happening. This project is being paid for by grants through RCMBA and the U.S Forest Service.
Houston Mesa
Located North of town, take the Beeline Highway to Houston Mesa Road and follow it to the parking lot. The best loop for mountain biking starts at the trailhead and hooks back in to the blacktop. There are bike lanes. It is a fun, fast, swoopy trail. The climb out to the road is a kind of jenky, but worth it. Find the route on Trailforks.
Longhorn Bike Park
Located at the Payson Middle School, the bike park has a pump track, skills area, and two downhill runs. It is fun and worth checking out. It is a great introduction to flow riding.
Peach Orchard
Though technically an OHV road, we love Peach Orchard for its climbs, its views, and its overall goodness. You can enter Peach Orchard across from the golf course on Main Street, and exit on Baby Doll Road. From Baby Doll, you get a choice of climbs: The Peach Orchard climb or the Baby Doll road back to town. Worth the watts.
